About
Arts Let Loose is a Manchester-based not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to providing children and young people with creative opportunities. We developed their full brand identity and visual content for the launch of their first official space in Swinton, Salford.
Arts Let Loose’s mission is to make art accessible to all, and as such, the biggest difficulty with this project was that our client wanted to appeal to all age groups.
Because of that, we found it crucial to conduct as much primary research as possible for this project. We conducted a survey for children to participate in our research and to get them involved in the idea generation stage for the supporting brand graphics. As a result of our research, we identified our main target group as arguably one of the most challenging ones: teens age 12-16. The question was: How to get them interested in ALL workshops and classes?

‘The Plaza’ - the concept we arrived at was that of an open space of endless possibilities, where the limitations of reality are suspended, and the only barrier is the extent of your imagination.
To deliver a flexible, robust brand identity, we developed a complex brand system offering a range of colours and visual elements that could be tailored to appeal to different age groups. This included an extended colour palette, an extended large of hand-drawn illustrative elements, as well as custom typography elements.
In addition to that, the logo showcases the spirit of the brand: it is asymmetrical, playful, and colourful. The design was inspired by street art and comic-book typography and incorporates contrasting shapes and visual styles in a fun final composition.
